Santas this year may be making changes to their routine visits to protect themselves and others from the H1N1 virus.
Overweight persons have been linked to severe attacks of the swine flu, since Santa Claus is usually overweight or obese it poses added health risks.
Associations for Santas are taking actions. One in particular was a seminar recently in Philedelphia on swine flu.
Some suggestions are:
- Keeing sick kids away
- Placing hand sanitizer stations around malls
- Santas washing their suits more often ( every day)
- Santas to get all the flu shots including the H1N1 vaccine.
- Santas using hand sanitizers and setting an example to kids.
There was a case mentioned in which a kid too sick to be at school was seen fit to be with Santa. This year sick children will be found unfit to sit with Santa or shake his hand.
Thank you for your posting.
ReplyDeleteYes, a grave concern...especially if Santa comes down with H1N1 and needs to work to pay the bills.
Hand sanitizer is a great start...as is parents keeping their kids home if sick...
Don,Santa Claus has always had a tremenduous influence on kids at Christmas, may be more than their parents.
ReplyDeleteThe article is placing a responsibility on Santa to educate the kids about the H1N1, but parents doing their part will keep Santa healthy to do his.
I should notify my friend about your post.
